How long (inches) is JUST the strap portion with the non-slip webbing--not counting the end pieces connected by swivel hooks?

will this strap attach to a Nikon D5300? will it hold a heavy body and lens?
I don't have a D5300 but I have one on a D3200 so I would expect it would fit the same. I've had these on all my cameras going back to my F3 and F4 so depending on what you consider a heavy body and lens it should work fine. I regularly use one on a body with a D300s and an older 80-200 f2.8.
