PTZOptics PT-SUPERJOY-G1 Reviews

Joystick Broke after 3 months

By Janine
Rated 1 out of 5

I purchased this unit from B&H Photo, expecting professional-quality equipment that would stand up to normal production use. Unfortunately, after only three months, the joystick broke during routine livestream operation. The unit was never dropped, abused, or mishandled, the joystick simply twisted off during normal use. What made the experience even more disappointing was the manufacturer's response. They refused to repair or replace the unit under warranty, claiming the broken joystick was "physical damage," and instead quoted over $200 for the repair. A joystick on equipment designed for professional video production should not fail after only a few months of ordinary use. The repair cost is also excessive for what appears to be a design or manufacturing issue. While B&H shipped the product promptly, prospective buyers should be aware of the potential durability concerns and the manufacturer's warranty practices before purchasing. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this product.

Easy to install and Use

We are mid-size church needing volunteers to run Sunday AV gear. Volunteers found it easy and intuitive to use. Provides much easier tracking and zoom while people are moving. Improved our in-house and online worship presentation. (We have 3 PTZ cameras and even if we only had one, I would recommend the extra expense to get this)

Can this unit control Lumens Cameras vc-a61p ? ...

Can this unit control Lumens Cameras vc-a61p ? which features are lost and which kept ?
Asked by: GUILLERMO
We always recommend that people use Controllers designed by the same manufacturer as the camera they intend to use to simplify set up and reduce troubleshooting issues. That being said This controller uses all the same protocols as the Lumens Cameras VC-A61p therefore it should have control over all the features of the camera.

Will this work correctly to control the AViPAS ...

Will this work correctly to control the AViPAS cameras over IP? Model AViPAS AV-3104IP
Asked by: Michael
The short answer: Yes it can but we only recommend using this controller with PTZ Optics Cameras. While it is possible to use this controller with other NDI and IP cameras we cant guarantee full functionality (such as adjusting white balance color shading etc). Most of our customers that try to cross brands on IP based solutions (even in an instance like this where they both support VISCA over IP protocols) have experienced problems. For experienced IP professionals there are ways around the limitations to make this work with most IP based PTZ cameras. For people who are just starting out (or want a set up with low maintenance) we recommend matching PTZ cameras with controllers designed by the same manufacturer.

so video and control over ip?
Asked by: Billy
A PTZO camera sends video over SDI and HDMI, and RTSP video over ethernet. The ethernet connection can be used for power (POE), control, and video monitoring. The Superjoy interprets the RTSP video of the selected camera and sends it to an HDMI output for monitoring.

Can you daisy chain two of these controllers through a network hub?
Asked by: Samuel
I would recommend a star configuration through a dedicated POE router. The router manages IP collisions which can step on daisy-chained traffic.
