The kit says no mounting included. All I want is a desk clamp and the arm to stick into the desk clamp - what kind of mounting is this kit not including? Do I have to buy more accessories to make this work?
This kit by OC White comes with everything you need to clamp a mic arm to the end of a table. Nothing else is needed.

Is 1.7" the absolute maximum of the clamp, even when utilizing the secondary holes? Would 1.75" work? Or will I have to use the cast iron clamp instead?
I ordered both clamps just to be sure. The 1.7" ULP-CLAMP-13 measurement is with the bottom bracket in the first set of holes. 1.7" is supposed to be 4.3cm, but with my crude measurements it's closer to 4.0cm. Perhaps from the padding? In the second set of holes it expands to 5.6 cm (just shy of 2 1/8"). However, the clamp can be unscrewed from the bottom bracket and that can be flipped upside down, expanding almost to 3". Not sure if it is recommended to do that, but it is slotted that way in the bracket. At the very least it definitely supports up to 2". I called the company for more precise measurements and they never got back to me when they said they would.
