The 55mm filter ring inside my lens broke in a fall. It appears to be a small ring that threads into the lens barrel and also serves as a stop to prevent the integrated hood from sliding off. WHERE can I purchase this replacement part?!
You are correct about the ring. It has inside and outside threads on the same ring (it's an adapter). If you don't have a local camera shop that deals in Leica kit then I would contact the Leica service center. There is a replacement part number for it. Look in the booklet that came with the lens if I remember correctly. Even without the part number they will be able to look it up.

Yes, this lens would obstruct the viewfinder a bit. Does it obstruct the frame lines? Less so. This can be a difficult question to answer because different people will have a different definition of how much viewfinder blockage is acceptable.
