Vello FreeWave Plus Overview

The FreeWave Plus Remote Shutter Release from Vello is a wireless shutter release set that allows select OM System and Olympus cameras to be triggered remotely to get shots from distances as far as 320' away. Multiple available shooting modes allow shooting in single, continuous, four-second delay, and bulb modes. The dual-function release enables pre-focusing by half-pressing the trigger button, then firing the shutter release by fully pressing. LED indicators confirm pre-focus and exposure status. The compact transmitter and remote receiver unit are each powered by two AAA batteries.

Wireless Shutter Release
Wirelessly trigger a camera and take single or continuous shots. This is a simple way to capture images without having to touch the camera. This freedom is useful for photographing wildlife or for macro photography, and for long exposures where it is necessary to eliminate any chance of camera shake.
Wired Shutter Release
In addition to wireless triggering, the camera can be triggered manually by pressing the button on the receiver unit
Single and Continuous Shooting Modes
Capture images individually or shoot in bursts
Four-Second Delay
The four second delay function makes it possible to step into the frame when shooting selfies or group portraits. it is also useful in macro photography when trying to eliminate vibrations caused by mirror movement in a DSLR
Bulb Mode
Use Bulb mode to take long-exposure photos by setting the camera to bulb mode and use the remote to open and close the camera's shutter. This mode is ideal for shooting star-trails and blurring rivers and waterfalls
16 Wireless Channels
Sixteen available wireless channels enable setting the transmitter and receiver to operate on individually selectable channels in areas with high digital interference
Two Remote Shutter Release Cables
The two included Remote Shutter Release Cables include a cable with sub-mini phono connector plus a cable with a multi-connector for compatibility with select OM System and Olympus cameras. Please consult the camera user manual for the individual camera being used.

Transmitter and Receiver work perfectly. First flaw is the cables are very short not like the older models. The older cables were the coil type that stretched 12”. Second flaw is the wrist strap is VERY DIFFICULT to attach to the transmitter. Thirdly is the receiver has no lock down ring for mounting on Hot or Cold shoes like the “Older models . This model just pushes on. “. I also liked the green light that lit when you installed the batteries in the correct position. New model does NOT have this feature. Too many trade offs for more gelt.

I was looking for a remote that I could use either 1 foot away from the camera or 10 feet plus.... would be nice if you could hold down the button and when you release it stops. using for sports so i want at time 10 or more pics in a row . At basketball games its hard to hear the shutter and hard to tell when it shuts off on continuous shots. I have a wired one to the camera that does the on and off for and works well... but the wire is short and you have to be right next to the camera. If I was say 40 feet from it I would know if the off device worked or not when I wanted to change the continuous shooting. I"m still looking for something better to be honest that is more user friendly .... also maybe looking for a wired one that is 10 -20 feet long if I don't find a good wireless remote for fast shooting.. Thanks for your time.

When using the Vello FreeWave Plus II Wireless Remote Shutter Release for Select OM System and Olympus Cameras with the OM SYSTEM OM-1 Mark II Mirrorless Camera, pushing the shutter button 1/2 way down does start Pro Capture.

Is this compatible with Olympus E-M10 Mark IV camera?

No, unfortunately the Vello FreeWave Plus II Wireless Remote Shutter Release for Select OM System and Olympus Cameras is not compatible with Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mark IV Mirrorless Camera because the camera only provide wireless remote functions through the IO.share app. There is no 2.5mm port nor it has a multiconnector port.

The Vello FreeWave Plus Wireless Remote Shutter Release for Select OM System and Olympus Cameras is not compatible with the OM System OM-3 camera. The OM-3 lacks a port for a wired remote.
