Close-focusing, apochromatic, and compact, the Laowa 65mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro APO from Venus Optics is a sleek telephoto prime designed for APS-C-format Nikon Z-mount mirrorless cameras. Its macro design enables a greater-than-life-size 2:1 maximum magnification along with a 6.7" minimum focusing distance to suit working with close subjects. In regard to the optics, it uses three extra-low dispersion elements to greatly reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to achieve a high degree of clarity and color accuracy. Additionally, it is a manual focus lens, with an internal focusing design, and has a nine-blade diaphragm to contribute to a smooth bokeh quality to suit shallow depth of field applications.

Venus Optics Laowa 65mm f/2.8 2x Ultra Macro Reviews
Incredible
Amazing lens. You will need a lot of light for the really close shots of course, but it is incredibly sharp! Really happy with this purchase.
Laowa 65 - 2x Ultra Macro
Best money I have spent in a long time. This lens is pure fun and is so flexible. I have only used it a few hours but it shows its ability almost instantly. The span of f/2.6 - 22 is a huge range and it feels like 3 lenses in one. This could very well be your favorite portrait and shallow f/l lens as well as being crazy fun macro lens. The build quality seems amazing for the price and the multi coatings are flawless on my example and are of the nice green you see on all high end apo's. I am using this on a small Canon M200 and the weight balance is very nice with a balance point just in front of the body. It feels like it cost much more than I paid and the entire packaging was very nice. The lens hood could use a better locking mechanism and the lens cap is pretty impossible to use with the hood on. I am using a typical 60mm plastic slip on lens cap over the hood. Here a a couple quick shots I grabbed on a partly cloudy day. Please excuse the heavy cropping and reduced res (done for cell phn sharing.)
