Curious why the DTAP has 3pin holes instead of 2 like traditional connectors. How does this effect when using standard 2pin D-tap

The DigitalFoto Solution Limited Multifunction D-Tap Breakout Adapter with USB, DC Barrel & 4 x D-Tap Ports has three pin holes so that the input is multi directional, meaning that the D-tap plug you connect to each port can be inserted to that the d-tap is facing either direction (cable out to the left or out to the right). The d-tap pins would only connect to two of the three pin inputs.
