The head weighs 2 lb and has a tungsten disulfide coating to help keep the ball movement smooth while it minimizes sticking and slipping. A lever release lock tightens down on the included quick release plate, and a bubble level helps maintain straight horizons in your images. To allow for precise adjustments, a friction control dial is integrated into the large locking knob.

This ball head is very good and stable. I bought it on a discount, but that don't matter it still one of the best head in the market today. It's very stable and the quality of its materials are of high quality.

Very disappointed in Gitzo

I purchased this ball head last year along with Gitzo Systematics tripod. During my first photography excursion one of the tripod legs locked up and could not adjust it for the duration of my trip. I just returned from my second excursion and experienced that ball head lever becoming completely un done and I was not able to get it reassembled. For the amount of $ you pay for this type of equipment, one should not experience these kinds of failures. While this tripod system is under warranty, Gitzo will fix it, but that is not the point. While out on location when you experience this kind of issue, it literally incapacitates your ability to photograph. Think twice before purchasing this ball head!
