I am considering purchasing this item. I understand that it can be connected to the Internet for enhanced functionality but since I do not have a good Internet connection where I reside can I use this UPS without connecting it to the Internet? Thank You Very Much.

Yes you can as connecting the APC Smart-UPS X Battery Backup & Surge Protector with SmartConnect (BH #APSMX15RM2UC) to the Internet/network is not a requirement - it is optional.
