Tilta Top Handle Overview

Add flexibility and accessories to your Tilta FX6/FX3 camera cage with this Adjustable Top Handle from Tilta. Attach this top handle to your cage to provide you with forward and backward balance adjustment, as well as 180° adjustment which allows you to shoot in standard or vertical mode without having to remove and reattach the handle. Additionally, the stainless steel and aluminum handle has an integrated 15mm rod clamp useful for attaching EVFs to your camera setup.

The handle features 1/4"-20 and 3/8"16 threaded mounting holes with anti-twist divots for securely attaching accessories to the handle, as well as two cold shoe slots. It also supports the Sony FX6 LCD Monitor Bracket, allowing you to attach an optional Sony monitor.

  • Mounts on your Tilta FX6 or FX3 cage
  • The handle includes an Allen key that allows you to adjust the handle forward or back to find the optimal balance for your camera and shooting style
  • The handle rotates 180°, allowing you to shoot with the camera on its side as well as in standard orientation

Probably a good handle, but frustrating…

This particular quick release handle does not work with the Tilta cage for the RED Komodo 6K. It only latches in and bolts down with a 1/4 20” thread when it is put in backwards, obscuring the camera screen and carries awkward when held. However, I’m sure it works with other Tilta brands.

I wanted a top handle that used two bolts for more peace of mind, and this one is inexpensive and has been perfect.

Would this work well as a right side handle mount as well? (On fx3/30 tilta cage)

Because the Tilta Quick Release Top Handle (Black) has a 1/4"-20 that can protrude from the bottom of cold shoe mount, you could mount it as a side handle using a the camera's or a cage's 1/4"-20 receiver, but it may not be the most secure since it won't have the added support of a cold shoe, anti-twist pin, or a second screw, so if you do use it as a side handle be careful to pay attention to if it starts to come lose or twist.

The Tilta Quick Release Top Handle (Black) could be used with the Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 6K G2 with either a compatible cage with cold shoe mount or a cold shoe adapter such as the SmallRig 1241 Cold Shoe, BH #SM1241.
