This 24mm f/1.8 lens is designed for full-frame format Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras and provides a 36mm equivalent focal length when used on APS-C-format cameras.
Bright f/1.8 maximum aperture is ideal for working in low-light conditions and offers greater control over depth of field and focus position for selective focus applications.
Two extra-low dispersion elements, two aspherical elements, and three high refractive index elements are incorporated within the lens design and help to control chromatic aberrations as well as reduce color fringing for sharper, clearer imagery.
An Ultra Multi-Coating has been applied to all lens elements to suppress lens flare and ghosting for increased contrast and color accuracy.
The Linear STM autofocus motor and internal focus design maintains the overall length of the lens during use.
A non-rotating 58mm front filter mount enables the use of polarizing, graduated ND, and other filter types that require precise positioning.
Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out-of-focus quality when using selective focus or shallow depth of field techniques.

So the BUT (and the reasons for only 3 stars) is quite strong purple fringing. The lens is sharp (corners too), small and light and not expensive BUT... A UV anti Haze 2A filter helps a lot. A normal UV doesn't do anything.

Lens is amazingly sharp. About the same as Loxia 25mm in center of frame and sharper out at the edges. Doesn't have quite as good color contrast as the Loxia, but still very good. Combine the price, speed and image quality and it is a real bargain. The auto infinity focus is an innovative concept and appears to work pretty well.

Sony does not offer any lens corrections. All corrections and firmware updates are conducted via Rokinon docking station.

According to Rokinon/Samyang:
"Astrophotography Mode
Astrophotography Mode automatically sets the lens focusing mode to MF, moves and locks the lens to infinity focus, and the Infinity Focus Confirmation LED will light in green. If the focus control ring is moved, the LED will turn to red."
