Tiffen 72mm Circular Polarizer Filters - Light rays which are reflected become polarized. Polarizing filters are used to select which light rays enter your camera lens. They can remove unwanted reflections from non-metallic surfaces such as water or glass and also saturate colors providing better contrast. The effect can be seen through the viewfinder and changed by rotating the filter. The filter factor varies according to how the filter is rotated and its orientation to the sun.

If you're out walking on a lovely day - in the mountains or at the beach - and you want to get a fabulous shot of a cloud-filled sky or make the water seem more saturated, then a polarizer is the way to go. This filter is the best way to make the clouds stand out, increase or decrease the saturation of the ocean or increase or decrease the reflection off the water. You can also use this filter when shooting into glass or windows since it will, again, either increase or decrease reflections.

If you're shooting black and white and want to simulate a threatening storm, try throwing on a #25 Red filter. The vista will take on the appearance of an imminent, ominous storm.

Along with a UV or Skylight Filter, a polarizing filter should be a part of everyone's gear bag. It can turn a run-of-the-mill image into a stunning, creative photo by increasing color saturation.

This filter uses a Wide Angle (Low Profile) mount. In order to help eliminate vignetting (darkening of the corners), it does not have a front thread.

Note: Circular polarizers are specifically designed for use with auto-focus SLR cameras (They will also work on manual systems without problems)

This filter eliminates ultraviolet rays from outdoor shots as well as polarizing the light to remove reflections, and increase color saturation, without affecting the overall color balance
Can dramatically enhance a blue sky and make the clouds more prominent
Used best at right angle to the sun
Effective with cameras that use beam splitters in the path of the TTL light meter and with AF cameras

72mm Circular Polarizing Wide Angle (Low Profile Design) Filter is rated 4.5 out of 5 by 6.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Quality polarizer I bought this circular polarizer for use on my new Canon EF-S 18-200 f3.5-5.6 lens. I purchased it because it was made for wide-angle lenses, it was made by a Tiffen, a company I trust for quality filters, and because it was very competitively priced compared to other available filters. I have not been disappointed. There is no light fall off from the center of the images to the edges, color saturation is excellent, and there has been no degradation in photo sharpness. The only disadvantage to this polarizer is that its outer ring is thin (in part because this is a filter for wide-angle lenses), too thin for the lens cap to fix to. So if want to have the lens cap on, the polarizer has to come off first. An inconvenience, but one I can easily live with given that it works so well at wide-angle settings and delivers such nice images.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good quality, but some issues...... Because of slim profile, no threads are provided to stack a color grad ND filter, or any other filter, which is a neat thing to be able to do. Also, a standard lens cap will not fit, however I came up with a great makeshift lens cover for this slim 72mm filter. A rubber-plastic cat food can lid (from Petco) works very well. No vignetting observed with Zuiko 9-18mm lens.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Nice filter This is a nice filter. Does what you would expect from a circular polarizer. This works great on my Fuji 10-24 with no vignetting.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Slime line avoids vignetting I use the Tiffen wide angle with my Raynox HD 6600 WA lens. No vignetting. Great. Only minus when ordering from USA to Holland: In Holland I have to pay again (Dutch) taxes. In the final it was a expensive circular polarizer.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Good polarizing filter Works good with my Nikon 10-20mm lens.
