SmallRig 3382 Overview

Attach numerous accessories and protect your Blackmagic Design Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro with the dedicated battery grip attached using this Camera Cage from SmallRig. This formfitting aluminum cage protects your camera without impeding access to your camera's functions, displays, and ports, and it also allows access to the battery door on the attached battery grip.

The camera mounts onto the cage via one 1/4"-20 screw on the top and two 1/4"-20 screws on the bottom, working together to prevent your camera from twisting. For accessory mounting, the cage features numerous 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 accessory and tripod mounting threads, a shoe mount, and a left-side NATO rail for articulating arms, handgrips, a monitor, a light, a microphone, and other accessories. There are also strap slots to add a separately available wrist or neck strap. An Allen wrench stores on the bottom of the cage as a handy way to tighten the camera screws.

SmallRig 3382 Reviews

Fits well and is very strong

A definite must have with the battery pack. It is very strong and locks the battery pack in tightly, which is a must as the blackmagic battery pack is not made of metal and if dropped or bent it could break easily I think.

One drawback, but not major.

The cage fits awesome. The one flaw is that Blackmagic Designed the battery grip with one Internal battery that gets covered by the grip and has 2 in the battery grip(3 total batteries). This construction makes it so changing the internal battery requires battery grip removal, which in turn requires removing the bottom half of the cage to do so. This is not an issue since you're hit swapping from the grip all day and that internal battery usually is never drained completely. The trick is to charge the internal battery all you have to do is plug the camera in... also with battery grip attached this allows the camera to become 3 battery chargers when you need extras on the road.

Solid, Fits Well

Another quality piece from SmallRig. Definitely stiffens up the giant chonker contraption of camera and battery grip. If flying on a glide/steadicam or gimbal, you'll need to mount the quick release plate offset to the side. There are screw holes on the bottom of the cage that enable this.

What do I need to attach rails to this? The 1798 mounting kit?
Asked by: Daniel
To clarify something you probably want to know: Although you could use the 1798 mounting kit, you have to consider the distance between your rails and the optical center of your lens. This cage is meant to encompass the battery grip in addition to just the camera - so when using the fullcage in combination with the 1798, there will likely be too much space between your rails and lens. SmallRig makes a separate attachment to rest in front of the battery grip, as seen in the product pictures.
