How to Avoid the Problem
1. ALWAYS make sure to plug in the power cable first and THEN connect the [HDMI] cable".
2. Make sure the battery you are using is rated for the load you will be attaching it to (don't power a full rig off an NP-F 330 for example)
3. Power off the camera and monitor before plugging them in (reduces surge current big time)
