Datacolor Spider X problem solved!

At least one reviewer wrote that the cutout slot on the top of the hood was too small to allow the Datacolor Spyder puck to pass through, making it impossible to use it to calibrate the monitor with the hood in place. I found that, in fact, it is not hard to drop the Spyder puck down in front of the screen by simply pulling the Spyder and cord between the hood and the screen. (See photos) So, never fear, you will be able to calibrate with the hood in place just fine. In all other respects the hood is just great. It makes a hug difference in reducing glare.

This monitor hood is made from soft, flexible material which does allow it to be folded flat.

Will this shade fit the newer ViewSonic VP2788-5K? It’s not on the compatibility list, but perhaps it simply hasn’t been added.

This Viewsonic Monitor Hood for 27" Monitors is listed by Viewsonic for compatibility with only six of their displays: VP2771, VP2785-2K, VP2756-2K, VP2785-4K, VP2756-$K, and VP2768a-4K. It might be possible that you could use it on another 27" monitor but Viewsonic does not state universal usage/compatibility.
