TASCAM Mixcast 4 Podcast Mixer, Recorder, and USB Audio Interface

Record a podcast with up to four people with the TASCAM Mixcast 4, a tabletop mixer and recorder with sound effects, independent headphone outputs, and mix-minus functionality, for live or streamed guests and more. With the Mixcast 4, you'll have everything you need to record a high-quality multicast podcast straight to an SD card or straight to a stereo USB feed, for instantaneous streaming over your favorite platform.

You'll enjoy the form factor of eight faders at your fingertips, as well as the eight sound-effect pads, and the built-in 5" touchscreen for deeper control. You'll be able to record up to 14 tracks at a time straight to an SD card, or record stereo over USB straight to your DAW, or streaming platform. In addition to TASCAM's Podcast Editor Software, the Mixcast 4 ships with an included AC adapter and a USB Type-C cable.

Comprehensive Recording for Podcasting
Record up to four people in person with the built-in mic pres, which accept XLR-1/4" connections for all manner of microphones. In addition, you'll find stereo line inputs with selectable 1/4" or 3.5mm connections to interface with phones and consumer devices. Pair this with a Bluetooth input for wireless connections to phones and devices, and you'll have everything you need to capture audio for all your guests.
Mix-Minus Functionality
Stereo line inputs and the Bluetooth inputs both come with mix-minus functionality, so your remote guests won't hear an echo of themselves when they're talking.
Headphones Galore
Four independently controlled headphone outputs are on hand, but that's not all. A 3.5mm TRRS headphone output mirrors headphone output 1, should you only have a headset with a 3.5mm connection on hand. The Mixcast 4 also provides a Talkback function that allows you to speak to the participants privately over their headphones, as well as guests connected via USB, smartphone, and Bluetooth.
Pads and Faders
With 8 faders and 8 sound pads (in 8 banks) under your fingers, you'll feel like a consummate professional. You'll have full sound pad control for editing and triggering sound effects, and transport functionality for one-touch recording. Adjust levels between pads and switch sound pad banks while recording for access to more sounds. There's even a normalizing function for pad sources.
Export Files in Multiple Formats
Export files in WAV, MP3, and MP4 formats.
Record How You Like, When You Like
Record to an SD card to work without a computer, or route the Mixcast 4 into a Mac, Windows, iOS, or Android device for a 14-in / 2-out audio capture.
Included Software
The Mixcast 4 comes with TASCAM's Podcast Editor software, for basic editing and mixing duties as well as control over the sound pads.

Audio-Technica AT2040 Hypercardioid Dynamic Podcast Microphone
Purpose-built for podcasters and content creators on a limited budget, the Audio-Technica AT2040 Hypercardioid Dynamic Microphone benefits from A-T's decades of expertise in constructing trusted microphones for the studio and stage. The AT2040 features a large-diaphragm dynamic capsule in a classic end-address configuration, just like traditional broadcast-style mics used by pros. Not only does the mic deliver a warm, yet robust vocal tone, but it also picks up minimal background noise and room reflections, thanks to its hypercardioid polar pattern.

By incorporating an internal multistage pop filter, the AT2040 is able to reduce vocal plosives—popping sounds from strong consonants such as 'p' and 'b'—without relying on an external pop screen. Additionally, the integrated shockmount helps prevent noise from stand handling and other vibrations while keep the overall size down. Due to its XLR 3-pin output connector and low sensitivity, the AT2040 should be used with a mic preamp that can provide moderate to high gain. Being a dynamic mic, it requires no batteries or phantom power.
This microphone is part of the B&H Virtual Mic Locker, an online tool to help our valued customers determine the sonic differences between popular microphones for podcasting and voice over work. Each microphone was recorded using a Grace Design M103 preamp into a Presonus Quantum 2626 interface.
Integrated Shockmount
The mic features a specially designed, integrated shockmount that tames any noise, shock, and vibration that might be transmitted through a mic stand, boom, or mount.
Internal Pop Filter
The AT2040's multistage foam mesh windscreen includes a nonwoven filter to allow close-up use without annoying pops.
Highly Directional Pickup
The hypercardioid polar pattern provides maximum vocal isolation for professional-quality sound with minimal background noise and room reflections.

Auray BAI-2X Two-Section Broadcast Arm with Internal Springs and Integrated XLR Cable

The Auray BAI-2X is a two-section broadcast arm with internal springs and an integrated XLR cable. This versatile and sturdy broadcast arm is great for studio as well as home use. It's ideal for broadcast, voiceover, and podcasts.

The BAI-2X broadcast arm is designed with internal springs that provide a clean and sleek look. The internal balance springs are precision engineered to support and hold in place microphones of up to 5 lb / 2.27kg. The design also minimizes handling noise when re-positioning the arm. The broadcast arm features a standard 5/8"-27 microphone stud mount that is compatible with most shockmounts and microphone clips. The angle of the microphone stud mount can be adjusted and secured with the locking knob, and the angle is maintained when re-positioning the arm. This eliminates the need to readjust it every time the arm is moved. With an extension of up to 40 inches, and the ability to rotate the arm 360°, the BAI-2X allows for precise microphone placement.

The BAI-2X also features a heavy-duty combo mount that consists of a sturdy C-clamp and a heavy-metal desktop mount. The C-clamp is capable of fastening onto desktops up to 2.3" thick. The C-clamp's slim design minimizes the clearance needed to mount it between a desk and wall. The desktop mount detaches from the C-clamp and provides the option of permanent installation to a desktop with the mounting screws (included). A 14" riser is included for adding height to the broadcast arm in order to extend over computer or studio monitors.

Through My First Few Uses With Broadcasting Sporting Events, It Has Worked Very Well. Sound Quality Is Excellent And It Is Easy To Use. I Have Not Fully Gotten Into The "hot Keys," And Other Extended Features, But I Am Quite Pleased With The Purchase.

Has anyone tried the USB Power Cable from Rode (DC-USB1) to see if it works? The voltage is the same, and the screw-on connector looks identical.
Asked by: Bob
We do not recommend using the Rode DC-USB1 USB Power Cable with the Tascam Mixcast 4. The RodeCaster Pro uses AC power while the Mixcast 4 requires DC power. Tascam specifically points out that only the included Tascam power adapter should be used to power the Mixcast 4. Using adapters from other manufacturers may cause damage and will definitely void your warranty.
