Between 2.8 and f8 this lens is very sharp with softening towards the edges at the wider aperture. Excellent value and a must have for is price and size.

Love this budget lens it replace the RF 14-35 F4 that I sold. I have the 28-70 2.0 so I had all the other angles covered. I used this 16mm for group shots on weddings and It worked wonderfully. I highly recommend this RF lens.

REALLY GREAT LENSE FOR PRICE

I needed a wide angle lense and I came across this one. The price matched with the specs almost seems fake but I wasn't disappointed one bit. The lense gives great quality and color to your image and the 16mm does it's job at being a wide angle lense. Would definitely recommend.

this little lens gets the job done. I shoot a lot of interiors and this lens is the perfect size to throw in your bag. it's also made gimble shooting a breeze. I had a hard time balancing my 15-35 and instead of paying hundreds for a new gimble I just stuck this little guy on and it was perfect.

Small, efficient and powerful

This little guy is obviously under the price of almost all the ultra wide angle lens for full frame available for mirrorless. Yes, it have aberrations on the sides, that characteristic gives a wonderful effect on the photos, and it works marvels for the landscape and urban photography and you can consider the minuscule weight of the lens, specially for long sessions or days in the streets. It's the perfect choice for the photographers who look for a small, portable, light and effective wide angle, and also for the people who buys lenses on a budget.

affordable ultrawide lenses, but not great.

It is compact, light, and wide... but it is not fast enough (aperture wise) for stars, the edges are very soft, and the distortion is bad... the camera does a good job correcting the distortion, but, it is not perfect. I'm not rerating buying it, but it is a bit limited in the use... if you are aware of the limitations, and use with care, it can give you great results.

Is this lens build strong enough to support the weight of a 100mm filter system such as the Nisi 100mm filter system?
Asked by: jackie
The Canon RF 16mm f/2.8 STM Lens uses 43mm front filter threads. Unfortunately, none of the 100mm (4-inch) filter holders we carry have 43mm adapter rings to connect the filter holder to the lens' filter threads. While it may be possible to use a step-up ring to connect the filter holder to the lens, I would probably try to use a different lens.

How doe this lens compare to the How does this lens compare to the RF 14-35mm f4 in edge to edge sharpness at f16?
Asked by: Robert
I've shot extensively with both lenses, and for the price, weight and size, the 16 is a very nice lens (see my review). Edge to Edge compared to the $1,200 more expensive 14-35? I don't think that's a fair comparison. Set up properly, this can be an excellent lens for a lot of scenarios--street, landscape, even interiors--but it's not going to be quite as sharp as the 14-35...at least not in my comparisons. Still, hard to fault it for that.

The M50 only uses EF-M lenses and cannot accept RF lenses. However, Sigma makes this 16mm f1.4 lens for the M50 and other EF-M mount cameras: https://bhpho.to/3mWJq4y

Is there both auto focus and manual focus on this lens? I do not see a focus circle for manual focus on the lens.
Asked by: orkell
This lens does have AF and MF as options. The switch on the lens can be used to control focus or to use as a custom configuration. When it's set to Focus, and you set the camera's focusing mode to MF, the ring will control the focus.

Is lens will correctly set with dji rsc2 plate? Plate does not fall into the frame?
Asked by: Evgeny
16mm on full frame is pretty wide. I think you will be okay because with how much the camera protrudes from the rear mount portion of the plate and the front optics, it looks like it should be okay not getting the bottom of the RSC2 plate in the frame. Note, it has not been tested. But if it, does it will be a small amount and you can crop it.
