B+W 105mm MRC Basic Circular Polarizing Filter
Key Features
  • Circular Polarizer Filter
  • For Use with Autofocus Cameras
  • 2 to 2.8x Filter Factor, +1 to 1.5 Stops
  • Helps Eliminate Reflections and Glare
This 105mm MRC Basic Circular Polarizing Filter from B+W reduces reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. Light from the sun naturally becomes partially polarized due to reflecting off electrons in air molecules, causing it to scatter into what appears as haze. A polarizing filter arranges this directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light, allowing for the absorption of much of this light. This results in a noticeable reduction of glare and reflections from non-metallic surfaces and an increase in the saturation of skies and foliage. Objects and people behind surfaces such as shop windows and car windshields become visible again, a fascinating image enhancement without the need for image processing in post production.

B+W MRC Basic filters are equipped with the exclusive Multi-Resistant Coating (MRC) nano premium coating technology. This high-quality broadband coating is applied on both sides and enhances the optical imaging properties, allowing uniform and increased transmittance across the entire light spectrum to be achieved, with minimal physically induced remaining reflection. The nano all-round protection on the filter glass also ensures increased scratch resistance as well as extremely fast and easy cleaning for a long filter life.

Do NOT Stack It!!

SEE ATTACHED PHOTOS! At first I hated the B+W 46mm MRC Basic Circular Polarizing Filter until I realized I made a huge mistake. Do NOT stack it!!! I use B+W T-Pro Clear Filters which are slim to protect my lenses. Yesterday I tried the B+W Polarizer again, except this time I took off the B+W T-Pro protective filter and was amazed at the results. I do wish I spent the extra for the B+W slim polarizer version, however, what I like is the polarization is very very good. I thought I liked the Hoya better but I was wrong. The Hoya polarization is uneven. The B+W dial is easy to turn. Its so good on my next order I am going to buy the B+W slim polarizer for a different lens. I own the Hoya HD3 Polarizer. I like that the HD3 can stack without issue but beyond that the B+W Basic Circular Polarizing Filter is now my go to. It has a tiny bit of a warming colour cast but its fine.
