8TB IronWolf 7200 rpm SATA III 3.5" Internal NAS HDD (OEM, 4-Pack) Reviews
If they work...
I purchased 5 12 TB IronWolf 3.5 internal NAS Drives for a Synology unit. 2 of the five were dead on arrival, verified by testing on a separate computer. I've used IronWolf drives in an NAS unit before with good results, but I'm wary now.
Reliable, High-Capacity NAS Drives Perfect for Always-On Use
I purchased five Seagate 12TB IronWolf 3.5 Internal NAS Drives to upgrade the storage in my home lab NAS, and the experience has been excellent so far. These drives are purpose-built for NAS environments, and it shows. They offer fast, consistent performance with excellent reliability. With 7200 RPM and 256MB cache, transfer speeds are more than sufficient for media streaming, backups, and general file storage. I’ve run them continuously for weeks without issue, and noise levels are reasonable even when all drives are active. The IronWolf Health Management feature, when paired with a compatible NAS, gives extra peace of mind by monitoring drive health proactively. Also, with a 1.2M hour MTBF and a 3-year limited warranty, the drives are clearly designed for long-term, always-on use. Pros: Massive 12TB capacity per drive Reliable performance under 24/7 loads IronWolf Health Management and vibration sensors for added longevity Quiet and cool operation Great value for the capacity and NAS-specific features Cons: Slightly more expensive than standard desktop drives, but worth it for NAS reliability Overall, I’m very happy with this purchase. These drives are a solid investment for anyone running a NAS system—home or small business.
