The last Seagate drive I used for my home network storage had a three-year warranty and lasted 11 years. With a track record like that, I never even looked at another brand. The IronWolf series of NAS-rated drives has an excellent reputation. I fully expect this new one to prove a reliable addition to my home network as well.

I bought this to replace a failing disk in my video server system (12 drives, ranging from10 -16 TB each), This drives replaced a failed Toshiba 12 TB, which lasted less than 6,000 hours under light load. Seagate drives last longer and are a better choice for my application.

does it need separate power or will it work with a SATA to USB cable? I have a SATA cable for my internal SSDs I use for video and doesn't require external power.
An external power source or enclosure will be required to use this drive with a USB port, because a USB port will not be able to provide enough power to run the drive.
