When opening the package, out of the box the microphone was extremely quiet and did not pick up my voice well. When I would turn the gain up afterward in my video editing software it would have a noticeable buzzing noise. I tried switching batteries in the device and using it on other devices to see if that was the issue, but nothing worked. I contacted Audio Technica support several times, it takes them forever to respond and they ask the same questions I have already answered. The product has a lifetime warranty but I am unable to get into contact with anyone to redeem that warranty. This process has gone on for months and at this point, I can't recommend anyone get this product, I wasted $30 on a product that I can't use.

No, the Audio-Technica Consumer ATR3350XiS Omnidirectional Condenser Lavalier Microphone for Smartphones is not wired for use with the locking 3.5mm input connection commonly found on Sennheiser transmitters.

Does this works without the battery? Is the battery for phantom power use or something like that? If not, can you suggest a mic that comes with everything that this one comes with, but without the need of a battery. Thanks in advance

To be honest this mic works and it’s cool. But after trying it I got a Rode smartLav+ which I liked much better. However I did need a TRRS to TRS adapter and a 10’ cable to get the Rode where I wanted it. But it was worth it. The Rode doesn’t need a battery but will need phantom power. One more tip. Get a TRS to XLR mic adapter (for either the AT or the Rode) if you’re plugging into an input that can take either. Plugging this in as a XLR input if you have that option will double the output level and cut down on noise/hiss considerably.

The Audio-Technica ATR3350XiS records in dual-mono. So it is a mono microphone but you will be able to hear it in both headphones when monitoring and recording.
