Nikon does not list the light loss while using the Nikon C-PL460 Slip-In Circular Polarizer. But most are are around 1-2 stops depending on the rotation and direction of the sun.

Any idea if the filter itself can be removed or the housing is compatible with any threaded 46mm filter? Would be interested in using this with a solar filter during an eclipse. Thanks
Asked by: Carl
Hi - I looked at the manual and beginning on page 38, it states that the housing that ships with the lens (not the CPL) can indeed take any threaded 46mm filter as long as the filter is not too thick to allow the housing to fit back into the lens. As with the CPL, the minimum focusing distance may change slightly, so any lens focusing memory position should be saved with the filter in place since the lens ships with no filter in the housing.
