There have been several reports of Canon not ...

There have been several reports of Canon not properly building both the new 1200mm and 800mm lenses by just adding the equivalent of an internal lens extender. Does anyone know anything about these claims? I have noticed that the 800m appears to have been pulled off the market. Any info will be appreciated. Thanks

Yes, that is why the lens is 500mm long and not 1000mm long. Think about it. I get your question but it's irrelevant. Nobody wants a meter long lens these days.
