SmallRig Top Handle Overview

Carry your camera or rig and perform low-angle shots with this lite Top Handle with Shoe Mount from SmallRig. The handle mounts onto the shoe mount on your camera or cage using a shoe adapter and a locking thumbscrew. It features a hollow design to make it very lightweight yet durable enough to support up to 11 lb.

This versatile cheese-style handle sports five shoe mounts, multiple ARRI-style anti-twist threads, and multiple 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 threads. The top handle is made from durable aluminum and stainless steel and comes with an Allen wrench for tightening the thumbscrew. A soft silicone handgrip provides a solid grip and comfortable hold.

The top handle is a must have accessory for any cage. Not only does it provide a handle to to carry your rig especially for low angle shots but it gives extra room for attaching accessories. I mount my external monitor to the handle and an external mic to my cage.

ll this handle works with a Nikon Z9 or maybe too heavy camera for installing this type of handle?

The SmallRig Top Handle with Shoe Mount (Lite) could damage the hotshoe of the Nikon Z9 Mirrorless Camera because of the weight of the camera. It is best practice to mount this to a cage and not directly onto the hotshoe of the camera to prevent damage.

The SmallRig Top Handle with ARRI-Style Anti-Twist Mount (Lite) BH #SM3765 weight is 124g. The B&H # SM2165C handle is slightly more heavy at 137g. The B&H # SM2165C handle also has more attachment points for gear.

The SmallRig Camera Cage for Sony FX30 and FX3 will accept the SmallRig Top Handle with ARRI-Style Anti-Twist Mount (Lite) directly on its right side via an Arri-style thread.
