Focusrite Two Overview

Start Simple
Launch your two-person podcast in moments, and easily take the quality of your content to a higher level with the Focusrite Vocaster Two. This ultraportable podcast interface turns your computer or USB-C iPad into a potent and intuitive content-creation station, with gobs of automatic gain for two XLR mics of any kind, onboard sound enhancements a button-push away, and a smart selection of podcast-centric software. With the option to tap remote guests, infuse music and other audio clips, and even feed the mix to a camera, the Vocaster Two is a well-rounded podcasting solution that remains simple.
Good Sound in No Time
Just talk and let Vocaster's Auto Gain function automatically set your level in seconds before you record. With phantom power and over 70 dB of gain on tap, Vocaster can boost any mic's output to a strong signal. Plus, you can sweeten your vocal sound instantly with three different podcaster-approved presets, or tap the Mute button to keep coughs, gulps, and sneezes out.

The interface's Easy Start tool helps get you going quickly, bypassing the turmoil of having to figure everything out on your own. If you run into a roadblock, award-winning support is available at any time, day or night.

Easy Hookup for Two Mics and More
Connect two preferred XLR microphones, headphones for you and a guest, and stereo speakers straight to the Vocaster. For vloggers, there is a dedicated TRS output that lets you feed your mix right into your camera. Input and output levels are easily adjustable from the tactile controls on the Vocaster.

Being a class-compliant USB-C interface, Vocaster works with most Mac/Windows computers as well as USB-C iPads. Since it can be powered through a USB connection to your host device or via an external USB power supply (available separately), it is truly portable and convenient.

Guests Welcome
Feature a call-in guest or bring in any other audio from your phone seamlessly via a wirefree Bluetooth connection, or by plugging your smartphone into the TRRS port (TRRS cable available separately). If your mobile device doesn't have a TRRS headphone port, snag an adapter—Lightning to TRRS and USB-C to TRRS are the two most common—to make the hookup possible.
Add Computer Audio
Equipped with two sets of stereo loopback, Vocaster allows you to stream virtually any audio from your computer, such as:

  • Music beds and themes
  • Intros and outros
  • Soundboards, sound effects, calls, and more
Software to Boot
With Vocaster, you're never on your own. It comes with Hindenburg Lite (and a six-month trial to Hindenburg Pro) recording software, a six months of Acast Influencer for hosting and monetizing your podcasts, and a six-month trial of Ampify Studio Premium to find and tweak music loops for your project.
It's Showtime
Designed like a broadcast studio, Vocaster Hub is an integrated mixer that provides access to levels, sound enhancements, audio routing from your computer and phone, and more. Not having your computer handy won't stop you from checking out what your listeners will hear, thanks to Show Mix.
Made for the Future
Focusrite's carefully chosen components, biodegradable and recyclable packaging, and use of recycled sources for over half of the plastics used in the product reduce the impact Focusrite interfaces have on the planet.

Easy to use and it is very portable. Glad to have this so I don’t have to bring my big home studio board with me to record interviews.

Would it work as a regular audio interface as ...

Would it work as a regular audio interface as well, like the Focusrite Scarlet 2i2?
Asked by: Elazar
Yes the Vocaster works like an audio interface just like the Scarlett series interfaces. The difference is that Scarlett series interfaces were originally made primarily for music applications even though they are widely used for podcasting and other applications. The Vocaster is focused on podcasting, with better quality mic preamps, 2x 3.5mm ports for accommodating a smartphone, as well as outputting to a camera's mic input. The Vocaster also has bluetooth connectivity. The Scartlett series interfaces do not have these ports. The Vocaster also has auto gain feature, a one-button enhance feature that activates vocal friendly compression & EQ and a mute button.

Can this be used for an internet radio show? having the microphone plugged into the XLR and the computer plugged into the 3.5
Asked by: Patrick
Yes, the Focusrite Vocaster Two USB-C Audio Interface can be used for an internet radio show. The microphone can be connected to the XLR input but the computer would be connected to the USB port. The 3.5mm TRRS input is intended for use with a smartphone for call-in guests. iPhone and Android phones with Lightning or USB-C connectors will need an adapter.

With the TRRS port, can it handle plugin power up to 5 volts?
Asked by: Rashid
I know the Vocaster TRRS does not supply plug in power. Aaaaaaargh. It will be connected to devices that may supply Plug In power (e.g. the mic in of a phone or other device that can vary between 1.5 and 5 volts). Can the plug in power from a device connected to the TRRS port of the Vocaster damage the Vocaster?

If I breakout the TRRS port to mono mic out and stereo line in, can the mono mic out be sent to the line input of a GoXLR mini?
Asked by: Rashid
When the Vocaster TRRS is connected to either a phone or any other device, from the phone's perspective the TRRS has Stereo Out and Mic In. However from the Vocaster's perspective the TRRS is Mic Out and Stereo In and this is what is uses for mix minus. The question tyherefore remains unanswered. Can the Mic Out from the Vocaster provide enough gain to be connected to the Line In of another device (e.g. GoXLR Mini)

Is it possible to send one microphone to the left channel and the other to the right channel to to record isolated audio?
Asked by: Brett
Yes, when using the Focusrite Vocaster Two USB-C Audio Interface, the audio from the host and guest microphones will be recorded on separate tracks and can be assigned to separate channels in your DAW.
