Would it work as a regular audio interface as well, like the Focusrite Scarlet 2i2?
Asked by: Elazar
Yes the Vocaster works like an audio interface just like the Scarlett series interfaces. The difference is that Scarlett series interfaces were originally made primarily for music applications even though they are widely used for podcasting and other applications. The Vocaster is focused on podcasting, with better quality mic preamps, 2x 3.5mm ports for accommodating a smartphone, as well as outputting to a camera's mic input. The Vocaster also has bluetooth connectivity. The Scartlett series interfaces do not have these ports. The Vocaster also has auto gain feature, a one-button enhance feature that activates vocal friendly compression & EQ and a mute button.

Can this be used for an internet radio show? having the microphone plugged into the XLR and the computer plugged into the 3.5
Asked by: Patrick
Yes, the Focusrite Vocaster Two USB-C Audio Interface can be used for an internet radio show. The microphone can be connected to the XLR input but the computer would be connected to the USB port. The 3.5mm TRRS input is intended for use with a smartphone for call-in guests. iPhone and Android phones with Lightning or USB-C connectors will need an adapter.

With the TRRS port, can it handle plugin power up to 5 volts?
Asked by: Rashid
I know the Vocaster TRRS does not supply plug in power. Aaaaaaargh. It will be connected to devices that may supply Plug In power (e.g. the mic in of a phone or other device that can vary between 1.5 and 5 volts). Can the plug in power from a device connected to the TRRS port of the Vocaster damage the Vocaster?

If I breakout the TRRS port to mono mic out and stereo line in, can the mono mic out be sent to the line input of a GoXLR mini?
Asked by: Rashid
When the Vocaster TRRS is connected to either a phone or any other device, from the phone's perspective the TRRS has Stereo Out and Mic In. However from the Vocaster's perspective the TRRS is Mic Out and Stereo In and this is what is uses for mix minus. The question tyherefore remains unanswered. Can the Mic Out from the Vocaster provide enough gain to be connected to the Line In of another device (e.g. GoXLR Mini)
