Versatility within a short telephoto range, the Leica DG Vario-Summilux 25-50mm f/1.7 ASPH., from Panasonic, is a 50-100mm-equivalent zoom for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras. Ideal for portraiture, fashion, events, and other mid-range subjects, this lens pairs the useful focal length range with an impressively bright constant f/1.7 maximum aperture, advanced optics, and a portable form factor.

Normal-to-short-tele zoom is designed for Micro Four Thirds mirrorless cameras and offers a 50-100mm equivalent focal length range.
Super bright f/1.7 constant maximum aperture excels in low-light conditions and offers impressive depth of field control throughout the zoom range.
One aspherical element, three extra-low dispersion elements, and one ultra high-refractive index element all combine to produce well-controlled imagery void of color fringing, chromatic aberrations and spherical aberrations.
Linear AF motor, and an internal focusing system, delivers quick and quiet focusing performance along with virtually no focus breathing throughout the focusing range from 11" to infinity.
Focus clutch mechanism allows for intuitive switching between AF and MF modes, simply by sliding the focusing ring, and if paired with select Lumix cameras, Focus Ring Control can be used to tune the focus rotation feeling.
Physical aperture ring has a stepless, de-clicked design for smooth, silent aperture switching to benefit video applications.
Splash, dust, and freezeproof design benefits working in inclement weather conditions.
Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a smooth and pleasing bokeh quality.
Designed to closely match the Leica DG Vario-Summilux 10-25mm f/1.7 ASPH. lens, these two zooms are nearly identical in terms of form factor and weight, share the same 77mm filter ring diameter, and have unified color rendering for seamless switching between the two lenses.

Chiaro Pro 77mm 98-UVATS UV Filter

The Pro 77mm 98-UVATS UV Filter is one of Chiaro’s highest-rated protective UV filters with 98% light transmission. It’s ideal for photographers of all levels who demand high-quality glass and other essential features for excellent image fidelity and construction.

To achieve 98% light transmission, Chiaro uses highly-polished optical glass, multi-coating, and additional advanced elements that improve the filter’s light transmission. A scratch-resistant coating minimizes scratching of the glass and helps assure that water, oil, dust, and fingerprints are removed with a gentle wipe. Its hard-anodized aluminum filter ring is designed to screw on and off effortlessly, and it is thin to prevent vignetting when used with wide-angle lenses. Side knurling helps assure that you’ll have a firm grip when attaching or removing your filter.

98% Light Transmission
Protecting your lens doesn't mean you have to lose optical quality. By using highly-polished optical glass and advanced coatings, Chiaro offers a 98% transmission rate, which is an excellent transmission rate for glass. And the company verifies the ratings with ISO certified lab testing.
Resistance Coating
The layers of advanced resistance coating on the filter are designed to resist moderate scratches, and allow you to easily clean your filter. Water beads up and rolls off your filter, and oil and fingerprints can come off with a gentle wipe. Dust and debris won't adhere to the filter and can be removed with a puff of air.
Polished Optical Glass
Glass that's polished to perfection is essential to achieve a high level of light transmission. The optical glass in this Chiaro filter is highly-polished for flatness that ensures excellent optical clarity.
Multi-Coating

During a shoot at our aviation unit, the prop wash from our Robinson helicopter literally catapulted this lens across the hanger floor. I thought for sure this lens was destroyed! It must've bounced forty feet and landed under the tool bench. I attached this lens to our Panasonic Lumix GH7 B camera and it worked like a charm with no damage whatsoever! It's built like a tank and is still in constant use. Amazing lens! I cannot praise this lens enough. The images this lens produces is amazing and I cannot praise it's quality enough.

You might regret it's price, and it's a big M43 lens. That said, you'll never regret it's IQ and operational features . For video it's a no-brainer. Combined with the 10-25, you have a killer combo.

Does the Panasonic DMW-TC20 2x Teleconverter work with this lens. Will it retain all the electrical communication between the body and the lens if the tele-converter is used? How many stops are lost if using this tele converter with this lens

I'm the OP, unfortunately the Panasonic Chat options weren't working, even during the appointed hours. However Panasonic Tech support did respond to an email inquiry and here was their response; " With regards to your inquiry, the model of teleconverter is compatible with the following lenses, per our list: https://av.jpn.support.panasonic.com/support/global/cs/dsc/connect/tc.html Therefore, it will only be compatible with the Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Elmarit 50-200mm f/2.8-4 ASPH. POWER O.I.S. Lens(which model is H-ES50200 on the list). It will not be compatible with the Panasonic Leica DG Vario-Summilux 25-50mm f/1.7(which has model H-X1025) We trust this information will be useful. I'd like to use this lens with a Smallrig Mini Follow Focus. What gear ring fits? Note: My preference would be something that mounts snug and semi-permanently, something that will survive storage in a bag with no rigging or fiddling on location.

Hi Danny! We're afraid that the lens was not tested for usage with such a device, therefore we cannot ensure proper functionality. We only have information available on the lens front end, where a filter can be attached, which is approximately 77 mm in diameter. -G
