ASUS Duo 14.5" Reviews

The computer is fast but…

Keyboard key too close for typing. Typing errors are frequent due to keys being too close to touchpad key. Very irritating. The extra bottom screen is handy for many tasks but typing errors are frequent as a result for a touch typist.

Great laptop, runs hot

This is a whole lot of laptop for well under 4 lbs. Great displays, great performance, nice set of ports, including barrel power connector and HDMI in the back, which is great for desktop docking. A full size SD card would've been nice so I don't have to carry an adapter. Speakers are very good, even at lower volumes. The i9 here is fast, but it runs hot, so the fans are on a lot, even when set to Silent mode in Asus' configuration. Since the fans are in the opening for the second display, you can hear them a lot better than in a closed laptop. It helps with cooling, but it does make it louder. ThrottleStop is a great way to give yourself more options to balance performance with fan noise. Make sure you have a good idea of why you need the 2nd display before you jump in. I remote log in quite often, so having the remote desktop on the main display with my local desktop on the secondary is amazing. Gaming performance is reasonable for a 3050ti, though it gets loud while gaming. Two big things to think about. 1) Touchpad on the right and 2) keyboard at the front with no palm rest area. The touchpad on the right was easy for me to get used to since my desktop configurations all have a mouse on the right and in the case of my Mac setup, a Magic Trackpad on the right. The size isn't a problem for navigating. It is a problem if you use gestures on Windows, specifically 3 finger gestures for navigating multiple desktops. You can 3 finger swipe up and down just fine, but it's very narrow for 3 finger right/left swipe for switching desktops - which I do a lot to switch between my remote and (full screen) local desktops. The keyboard on the front was harder for me to get used to since it forces you to either hold your hands closer to your body as you type, or move the laptop out further, making the effective screen size smaller. It's a good keyboard and I was able to get my usual 95+ wpm on it. As another reviewer noted, for sensitive users, the screendoor effect of the 2.8k screen and the touch digitizer is visible, especially when light colors are being displayed. Overall, if you're looking for a very powerful but small, lightweight laptop with a decent dGPU, this one is hard to beat.

Great Spec. Bad Oled Screen Implentation

I really wanted to like this as i have been waiting for a new laptop with better screen than 1080p. I liked almost everything about this laptop except for two things: battery life and Oled Screen. The OLED screen is what killed this laptop for me. I got two different laptops and both Oled screens had a defect. You can see the gray outlines of the touch screen tech. On a white background, you can see grids! It was unbearable. Sadly, i had to return mine... The battery simply just didn't last that long on day to day use. Less than 4 hours on normal productivity use. Excel, web, outlook, etc.

BEST EVER

This laptop is by far the best laptop ever. The OLED display is amazing, making everything look so sharp and crispy. And the screenpad, oh boy, makes my editing workflow super easy and fast. Not gonna be switching laptops for a ling time.

Great Laptop and Workstation

I really love this laptop, 14.5in screen which is bigger than 13.3 but way smaller than a 15.5 which to me is too big (I use it for work and 15.5 is too much to carry around). The graphics are excellent and it has Intel and NVIDIA graphics driver chips. Also, one feature that I used right out of the box was the cloud recovery, not because there was something wrong, it was because I wanted a bigger SSD than what came with the computer. - Wait for it..... you take out you old SSD after you back it up, then you install your SSD, once you boot up, the computer is smart enough to boot into Recovery, then it will update the Recovery Wizard, then a few clicks later, the Cloud Recovery Wizard will install all of the factory settings, programs, profiles, and partitions as if your SSD left the factory with the SSD that you installed. (I thought this feature was the best thing since sliced bread.) I will say that, for the dislikes is the SSD drive size (yes, you can upgrade which is what I did right out of the box). The other dislike is that you only have two USB Cs (thunderbolt 4s) and one USB 3.1 (USB A), but I have a lot of different things that I have plugged in so, I use two docking stations (yes, two docking stations with 4 monitors) and this laptop takes it like a champ. The only other thing that I would say is that I would like to see 64GB of RAM in this model lineup with at least 4TB motherboard recognition because I have power hungry programs that love to eat up RAM, plus at no given time I have 20+ Chrome tabs open due to constantly having to got back and forth between different websites (for work) then I have my other programs up and running. Other than that, I love this computer!
