SmallRig 3233B Overview

Provide accessory mounting and protection for your Canon EOS R5 C, R5, or R6 camera with the lightweight aluminum "Black Mamba" Camera Cage from SmallRig. This formfitting cage features a sleek, rough-black finish with carbon fiber-style details, maintains access to the camera's controls, battery, and SD card slot, and offers a variety of mounting options.

The camera mounts onto the cage using a single 1/4"-20 screw, and there are anti-twist pins and rubber padding on the base to prevent the camera from twisting or scratching. In addition to multiple 1/4"-20 and 3/8"-16 accessory threads, the cage features ARRI-style locating holes to prevent accessories from twisting when mounted.

The cage has an integrated Arca-type mount on the base, so you can mount it onto standard Arca-type heads and bases. There is a shoe mount on top, and integrated strap slots allow you to add a separately available neck or wrist strap. A screwdriver for securing the camera screw is stored on the bottom of the cage.

SmallRig 3233B Reviews

Buy this cage only if you are 100% sure you never want to remove it from your camera

I've had this cage for two months. I installed it twice and removed it once. I attempted to remove it a second time however, the pin that secures the cage to my camera is stripped already. The included allen key spins freely within the screw head. I have lots of other allen keys and lots of multi tools. None will click into the screw head to get it to spin. The metal appears to be soft. I am going to need to hire a machinist to remove the screw, which will then render cage useless or I will have to have a customized screw made out of better material. My R5 is now locked the cage. I cannot use it on my gimbal, and there are certain applications where I do not need/want a cage and would prefer to not have it on there. I am passed the return window for B&H. I reached out to small rig which seems to offer no support at all aside from help or sing the product. I am awaiting a response from their generic email. If I am able to receive a refund, if I am able to get this thing off my camera, and if they are willing to offer me additional compensation for my troubles, I would like to give this product ZERO stars because of the massive waste of my time, money, and freedom to use my gear without restriction resulting from poor quality materials.

It works.

It has lots of 1/4 holes. I did nick my bottom my new R6 trying to put this on, before realizing there is retaining pin that needed to be backed off first.

Is this cage compatible with the DJI RS Pro 4 mounting system?
Asked by: Daniel
Smallrig says the SmallRig "Black Mamba" Camera Cage for Canon EOS R5 C, R5 & R6 is incompatible with DJI gimbals RS 3, RS 4, or RS 4 mini. When used with RS 3 or RS 4, it may interfere with the gimbal’s axis arms. However, the RS3/ RS4 Pro will work with this cage. The baseplate is compatible with the Pro gimbals.
