Westcott X-Drop Background Overview

This Westcott X-Drop Pro Wrinkle-Resistant Backdrop Sweep measures 8 x 13' and is Chroma-Key green so you can drop in the background of your choice in post production. Use an exotic locale, or download one of the 25 included CloudKO Lite Green Screen Extractions.

The backdrop is resistant to creases, machine washable, and reflection free. Made from 100% polyester material, it can be folded for transport to your next shoot. A fabric drawstring bag matches the backdrop color for easy identification. It has five built-in grommets and a pole pocket for easy mounting to the separately available X-Drop background stand.

Ok, when I first unboxed this I was skepticle, however the set up once you figure it out is three minutes and the take down less. It is large and unwrinkled and excellent for Media Days....It comes in its own carry bag and weighs next to nothing! We love our new purchase!! ( we bought two.....for now...)

This is a great addition to your backdrops if you just want a mid-gray for portraits. Shoot a jelled flash into it and you can have an assortment of colors. It can show wrinkles a little more than the fully black or white ones, so give your subject some space to blur the background, or be prepared to steam/de-wrinkle before shooting (or remove in post.)

Yes, the Westcott X-Drop Pro Wrinkle-Resistant Backdrop Sweep (Chroma-Key Green, 8 x 13') is using the industry standard Chroma Green.

Will this work with the x drop system that came ...

Will this work with the x drop system that came with the 5x12’ drop? I don’t need a longer drop and would prefer to go with 5x7’ for my second drop. The description says this 5x7’ works with the 5x7’ system but looks like the same only no material for a “floor drop”

Yes it will. There is one X-Drop frame (Westcott Part #570X) and both the 5x7 and 5x12 work with that frame.

The Westcott X-Drop Pro Wrinkle-Resistant Sweep Backdrop stand has hooks for the grommets to put it on. If you will do DIY backdrop - you will be able to place it on the stand, but at the moment we do not carry any off brand backdrops with that type of mounting.

Is the White a pure white? Does it bounce light well, or does light pass through it? I will be using this as a reflector for photographing rooms.

The Westcott X-Drop Pro Water-Resistant Backdrop Sweep Kit (High-Key White, 8 x 13') BH #WE877SK has a train for going under the subject. The frame supporting it is the same as the 8x8' Kit.

No, the Westcott X-Drop Pro Wrinkle-Resistant Backdrop (Chroma-Key Green, 8 x 8') would not fit to a Westcott 8 x 8 Scrim Jim frame properly.

The Westcott X-Drop Fabric Backdrop (Parchment Paper, 5 x 7') BH #WE643F was designed for the X-Drop frame, but it also has a rod pocket for use with traditional background support systems.
