Benro Mammoth Reviews

Very sturdy, rugged, and stout

This tripod with a gimbal-type head proved very useful when taking photographs with my Sony FE 400-800mm, which is a large and bulky lens. It was very ideal for my situation and I'm glad I made this purchase.

Does The Job, But Feels Like Nickel-and-Diming

This Adapter Plate Works As Expected. It’s Simple And Doesn’t Do Much, Which Is Fine. What Bothers Me Is That The Mammoth Tripod Didn’t Include A Flat Base Along With The Cup. Charging Extra For Such A Basic Piece Feels Like Penny Pinching, Especially At The Price Point Of The Mammoth — And Plenty Of Other Tripods Include Both, So It’s Not Unreasonable To Expect That Here. Another Miss: There’s No Bubble Level On This Plate, And The Cup Doesn’t Have One Either. It’s A Tiny, Inexpensive Detail That Makes A Big Difference In Day-to-day Use. Benro Gear Is Generally High Quality, And This Plate Works, But The Missing Details And Extra Charges Are Disappointing.

What is the actual load capacity of this tripod - the description has different numbers - 33 pounds and 50 pounds - which is correct?
Asked by: Matthew
It depends. There is a 33lb and 55lb model. I own the 55lb, 4 section and the 33lb 3 section. I use the 55lb for large format and I have no doubt about the weight rating as I have had over 40 pounds on it and done things that shouldn't have ended well. I have tried about 30 lbs on the 3 section/33lb model and I believe it to be a bit optimistic. But still - amazing price and both are great products.
