The tightening knob on the side of the rail features a built-in bubble level for balancing your load and adds another 1.1" to the 7.9" of the rail. There's another bubble level on the rail itself as well as a laser-engraved scale for precision.

Sturdy, simple, though with a fixed 90 degree bracket with limited throw on the screw will not accept Peak Design shoes/plates. Does accommodate Manfrotto plates

I haven't used it extensively yet, but it seems to check all the boxes. It is long enough to be useful as a nodal mount for my wide angles, 24-70 and 70-200 zoom lenses. If it isn't stiff enough, at least I picked up another plate at a reasonable price!
