Godox X System

Amazing power and quality of light

I occasionally like to use very large modifiers for certain styles that i shoot. The problem with that is that my typical 300w and 400w strobes force me to use higher ISO’s as they struggle to fill those larger 60”-84” modifiers. This 800w strobe handles the task with ease. The controls are very easy to use and it pairs with every version of the 2.4g Godox wireless triggers as I still own every one from the X1T to the X3pro. The refresh rate is awesome and feels instantaneous at 1/8 power and lower. I don’t think I’ve had a single failed to fire frame after months of using this strobe. The modeling light is very bright and I’ve even used it for a couple of video portraits in the studio. The benefit of having dedicated studio strobes is that i have endless power and don’t have to be wary of battery power levels and failures mid shoot. I transitioned after a couple of times that i went into a shoot and realized my battery drained for the strobe and i had to completely change lights. The power cord is more than enough to reach any area of my smaller studio. The strobe is significantly lighter than my AD600’s and i get 1/3 of a stop more light and a peace of mind during my shoot. The mounting bracket for the light has a friction disk that allows me to get precise angles and I’m not limited like those that have geared like teeth. The handle locks very well and when you apply heavy modifiers, the weight doesn’t cause it to loosen as it tightens itself more.

I love everything about the Godox DPIII-V lineup. They’re well built, reliable, and very affordable. The LED modeling light is such a huge improvement over the old incandescent (HOT!) bulbs.
