Will this lens using the new Fujifilm XT-5 or X-H2 camera with Nikon ES-2 adapter be useful for slide copying?
I just tested the Fuji 30mm with the Nikon ES-2 (and 43mm to 52mm step-up ring). It works relatively well using manual focus on an X-T4, although the image does not fully fill the screen as the 30mm lens can focus closer than the ES-2 allows. If you are okay with cropping the image slightly, then the ES-2 is a good solution.

How does this compare to the How does this compare to Fujifilm 80mm 1:.2.8 R L OIS WR MACRO?
I own both lenses. Ironically, despite having IS, the big 80mm is extremely difficult to get good, optimally focussed photos with if hand-held. It is very heavy and hard to hold steady. It does not have a tripod mount. Even if you want to use a tripod, you may need a rail system and generic tripod support to balance the camera. The little 30mm macro is fairly easy to focus, light and easy to carry and use hand-held. It, however, has flash issues. Godox is the only maker of flash units for Fujis proprietary hot shoe. You need their Fuji trigger + flash unit to get light to the subject if it is close to the lens because the Godox wont point low enough to light the subject. A reflector might help. The Godox macro ring flashes dont have a small enough adapter ring (43mm) to work on the 30mm lens. Maybe another manufacturer does. Neither lens comes with a case and most generic cases are the wrong proportions to fit these lenses: measure carefully. Still, I greatly prefer the 30mm for light maneuverability.

I want a general use macro lens and one that I can also use to copy 35mm slides and negatives. Would the Fuji 30mm macro be a good choice?
FUJIFILM XF 30mm f/2.8 R LM WR Macro Lens BH #FUXF3028 offers 1:1 Magnification with a 3.9" Minimum Focus distance so it will be a great general use macro lens and one that one can also use to copy 35mm slides and negatives.
