Using low-dispersion lanthanum glass with a seven elements in six groups lens configuration and antireflection multicoatings, views through the eyepiece are crisp and bright with high resolution and minimal distortion. The spacious 85° field of view and exceptional 20mm eye relief ensure maximum comfort for long-duration use.

Mine is a story I've read from many in various forums. I was astronomy-curious from a very young age, but not until now that I'm in my late 50's, did I do something about it. I purchased a telescope...ok, more than one, and have learned a bunch about the night sky. I used this eyepiece to have my first look at the Orion Nebula through my Tele Vue TV-85 and then through my Apertura AD-8, the eyepiece produced sharp and contrasty images through both scopes. Stars were sharp to the edge of the eyepiece, and I felt like I could look deep into the eyepiece in all directions. It is huge and heavy, but manageable. I had previously only owned Tele Vue eyepieces, but I am so glad I picked this one up. Instantly in my top three.

I recently bought the 2 Pentax XW 16.5mm eyepiece and tried it out last night using a Celestron 11 EDGE SCT telescope. The views were impressive right to the edge of the eyepiece's FOV (the apparent FOV is 85 degrees). The Hercules Globular Cluster (M13) was particularly stunning in this eyepiece resolving lots of stars in the cluster. I am very pleased with this purchase.
