The GT2G Tomahawk V2 Gimbal Head Attachment for Ball Heads from ProMediaGear attaches to Arca-type ball heads and holds a telephoto lens, providing gimbal movement for the lens. It has two built-in Arca-type dovetails at the base for attaching it to ball heads and has an Arca-type clamp with a quick release plate on top. Long telephoto lenses can be attached via a native Arca-type tripod foot or attached quick release plate.

If you want to have a gimbal head, you would use this adapter (or one like it). If you want a ball head, you do not need this accessory.
