Even thought Savage started using the 8-40 size mount screw on Axis I/II after 6/2021 rifles, I purchased my rifle in November 2022. I ordered this mount. I went to install on my rifle it had 6-48 screws. The mount is very well made. Also a Weaver slot is 0.180 inches wide, whereas a Picatinny slot is slightly wider at 0.206 inches. Attachments made strictly to Picatinny specs won’t fit onto a Weaver rail – their locking lugs are too wide for the Weaver slots.
