Nikon NIKKOR Z 26mm f/2.8 Reviews
Is quickly becoming one of my favorite lenses!

I spent six months debating whether to buy this lens and comparing it with the small 28mm. There are so many polarizing reviews out there for this particular lens, but I own nine S-series lenses now, and I dare say this one just barely missed that classification. It's a fabulous lens, and in hindsight I realize the price is actually worth it. While the focusing noise might not work well for video shooting, I bought it for still photography, and it takes stunning, sharp pictures with beautiful color rendering.
One of the biggest selling features, of course, is its small size. My first love is wildlife photography with my 600mm prime lens, but before buying this lens, I was afraid to travel with that lens because of the size and weight, and worried about how I would make it work for a full day out with all the other lenses I felt like I would need to lug around with me. I finally bought this lens up before a recent trip to the Santa Cruz area for a week of hitting the nearby National parks and refuges. I was pleasantly surprised that I could go out for a full day of hiking with a sling bag with my 600mm on my Z5ii and this lens in a side pocket, and be 100% content. I never missed any of the focal lengths in between that a heavier zoom would have offered. This lens worked perfectly for capturing all the gorgeous landscapes I encountered while I was on the hunt for taking pictures of wildlife with my telephoto. It also worked really well for local street photography. Don't hesitate. Just buy it. I'm extremely happy with my purchase and my only regret is not picking it up sooner.

I love the small size on a Z50-II and the 2.8 is nice. Some reviews said it’s noisy but it’s not bothering me at all. Now I want an 18 version for a 27mm equivalent length. An 18 f/1.8 so we’d have a budget Leica🙂

Does the lens cap go on when a filter is screwed onto the lens?
Asked by: Philipp
When using a filter on the Nikon NIKKOR Z 26mm f/2.8 Lens, you will need a standard 52mm cap instead of the included slip on cap. I would recommend the Nikon LC-52B 52mm Snap-On Front Lens Cap: (BH # NILC52B MFR # 4244).

The thread on the Nikon NIKKOR Z 26mm f/2.8 Lens can support a step-up ring, like the Sensei 52-72mm Aluminum Step-Up Ring (B&H # SESUR5272).

It can be used on the Z50, Z fc, or Z30, where it would be a FF equivalent of 40mm in focal length and f/4.3 in depth of field.
