The charger has an LCD panel so you can clearly see all the information you need at a glance. An integrated circuit provides protection to prevent batteries from overheating or overcharging. Clip the batteries in, plug the charger in and watch the batteries being charged. The charge status of each battery is displayed, so no guessing.
Charger and Batteries Fine So Far
Having only had this charger and batteries for a few weeks I can't comment on the probable life span of these batteries. Initially, they seem to have as much energy storage capacity and load current output as the original Canon versions, but only time will tell if they last as long. The charger seems to work reasonably well, and will fully recharge a single LP-E6NH in 4.5 hours or two at the same time in 9 hours. At the applied charging current battery heating is minimal. The stepped bar display and indicated percentage of charge readout (in 10% steps) is a nice charging progress indication. The only issue I've noticed (why I removed 1-star from this review) is that when the charger is plugged into an 115Volt AC outlet there is a strong inrush current surge resulting in a spark and audible pop. So far this does not seem to have affected the charger operation, but is certainly not typical of a low-powered (15 Watt) electronic battery charger. There is no reason a small charger like this should have a high current inrush surge when connected, and it does not bode well for long term reliability.
