Used To Power Up Two Of Our Atomos Shinobi Ii 5.2" Monitors. Worked For A Short Amount Of Time, And Then We Couldn't Get Our Monitors To Power Up. Actually Thought It Was The Monitors Themselves For A Bit! Then, While Troubleshooting To Determine If It Was An Adapter Or Monitor Issue, The Watson D-Tap Dummy Battery Exploded. Thankfully No One Was Holding It. Thankfully There Was Only One Bright Flash But No Fire. There Was Smoke. Thankfully It Didn't Damage The Monitor. We Bought Two Watson Dummy Batteries. Neither Work Now. One Exploded. Proceed With Caution.
This is a great thing to have in your kit. Like most of you, I use L-Series NP-F batteries a lot because so many accessories use them (lights, monitors etc..). Heck, even some cameras use N-PF's. And although I love the NP-F batteries, being able to power these accessories with a longer lasting v-mount battery is wonderful. This little dummy battery is a total game-changer. It lets you power your monitor, light, or even your camera using a separate, professional D-Tap battery. Seriously, it’s a lifesaver when you need that extra juice for your gear. No more worrying about your battery dying in the middle of a shoot! A nice feature is the built-in regulator. It can handle up to 16.8V input with an 8.2V output, which is perfect for keeping your equipment running smoothly and keeping everything safe. The coiled cable is another nice and thoughtful feature.
