DPA Microphones ST2015 Compact Wide-Cardioid Condenser Microphone (Stereo Pair)
Two Overhead Mics for Ambient Pickup on the Live Stage
The ST2015 from DPA provides sound engineers, producers, and musicians with a stereo pair of versatile wide-cardioid condenser microphones well suited for use on a variety of instruments and built to withstand the rigors of live stage performances. With its ability to handle SPLs up to 147 dB, the 2015 mic can be placed close to instruments when needed or further away to capture more ambient sound. The smooth, uniform wide-cardioid polar pattern offers a consistent response across the entire frequency range, helping to ensure sounds are accurately reproduced with precision and nuance.
A Wide-Cardioid Stereo Pair Ready for a Variety of Instruments
  • Equally at home in the orchestra pit, on a live stage, or in the studio, the 2015 is a versatile mic you can use to capture detailed, natural sound from a wide range of instruments, including grand pianos, horn groups, vibraphones, marimbas, xylophones, and other large instruments; it's also an excellent choice for drum overheads.
  • Recording with a stereo pair in an A/B or X/Y configuration provides many good mix options, especially for overhead, ambient, and ensemble recordings.
  • The stereo pairs for DPA's 2000 series pencil microphones are selected with ±1.5 dB sensitivity tolerance.
  • The microphone offers a linear frequency response when positioned about 11.8 inches from the source.
  • A flat on-axis frequency response with a light presence boost in the 5 to 15 kHz range provides faithful reproduction of instrumental performances.
  • The 17mm electret-condenser capsule delivers rich, expressive sound and can handle SPLs up to 147 dB and peak SPLs up to 153 dB with a 10% THD, allowing you to use it on loud sources.
  • The uniform wide-cardioid polar pattern provides 3 dB of attenuation at 90° and 6 dB of attenuation at 135°. This pattern ensures performance that is similar to an omnidirectional microphone from the front, but from the back, it exhibits performance similar to a cardioid mic.
  • The uniform off-axis response ensures that any bleed from other instruments is a truly accurate reflection of the original sound.
Durable, Performance-Ready Build Quality
  • Live performance stages can be difficult environments for equipment, especially for a go-to mic that you'll use on every show.
  • The 2015 is built with a thick and robust structure that can stand up to the everyday abuses of touring and performing, with extra-durable surfaces for more graceful aging.
  • The compact size makes it easier to optimally place the mics, even on cramped stages packed with equipment.
  • The included professional quality holders provide a firm grip to keep the mics in place; foam windscreens are also supplied.
  • Connect each mic's standard 3-pin XLR connector to a wide variety of mixing boards and preamplifiers and power the electret-condenser capsule with 48V phantom power.
Warm Audio Premier Series Balanced XLR Cable (15')

Presented here with a cable length of 15'', this Warm Audio Premier Series XLR Cable is designed to provide a high-end connection between balanced gear with XLR jacks, such as microphones, outboard equipment, and interface-to-monitoring connections. If you care about the details of your sound onstage and in the studio, use this cable to preserve your signal.

This XLR cable is chock-full of features that enable a top-of-the-line performance, such as gold-plated connectors and a star-quad wiring scheme for superior RFI rejection in the balancing process. Double-Ruessen shielding helps protect against EMI, and a braided outer wrap fights against tangling. To guarantee an optimal performance, Warm Audio partnered with Gotham AG, one of Switzerland's best producers of premium cable.

The Premier Touch
Warm's Premier cables go above and beyond, adding features like gold-plated connectors, a braided outer wrap, four-conductor star-quad construction (helping aid in giving you powerful rejection of RFI), and double-Ruessen shielding (also for increased rejection of EMI).
Braided Premier Wrap
This braided wrap removes the friction that occurs when rubber or PVC rub together, so it's much easier to handle and wrap the cable. No more fighting with a rat's nest of cable spaghetti. The braided wrap also adds an element of strength and reliability, as it helps to protect the cable's PVC jacket from damage due to pinching or binding.
Star Quad Explained
A traditional balanced cable uses three cores of wire to carry audio signals—one shielded core for the positive leg, one shielded core for the negative leg, and a plain outer wrap that functions as the ground. The idea is this: a fully balanced system flips the phase of the signal, merges the positive and negative signals together, and effectively cancels out interference encountered along the cable's length by throwing it out of phase with the audio.

Star-quad construction takes that concept even further by using five cores instead of three. Two cores are provided each for the positive and negative legs, as well as a single ground. This helps to further shield the audio from RFI (radio frequency interference), ensuring an even better performance.

Double-Ruessen Shielding Explained
Double-Ruessen shielding goes further than more traditional techniques in two ways: First, the cable is wrapped with two separate shields. Second, the outer shield is wrapped in a contrary direction to the inner shield, creating a stronger and more complete barrier from EMI for the internal cores.
Gold-Plated Connectors
Gold connectors have characteristics that are advantageous for signal transfer and provide more resistance to corrosion than other metals, making it well-suited for cable connectors.

DPA Microphones 2015 Reviews

Gamechanger for OH mics

It's very simple. This microphone completely changes the perspective on distant miking. Thanks to its wide polar pattern, we can achieve a wonderful stereo image of the instrument by placing the microphones a little closer. As a result, bleed is minimal. The sound of this stereo pair, for example, on drum overheads, makes the drums sound like they're from a record! There's a colossal difference compared to large-diaphragm microphones. Yet, there's no issue with unpleasant transients and high frequencies. I don't know how DPA achieved it, but they did it!
