I have both FX and DX systems. For a variety of reasons my preferred travel camera nowadays is the Z 30 or 50 due to its convenience, size, grip, and weight. I have been using the 26 mm lens for several years and thought it was OK, but did not like the harshness of the out focus areas. I finally decided to get the 24 when it was on sale and boy I can't believe I didn't get it sooner. The angle of view is perfect for my kind of photography. The out of focus area is very smooth, close focus distance is very useful, and the low light performance is in my mind significantly better than with the 26 mm. It is light and it is small. It will be my daily walk about lens for the next few years for sure.

This lens doesn't look like much but it is a great lens. It's sharp, fast focusing and colors are saturated. They don't call it a Macro lens but it works well for Macro, as it focuses really close and has good depth of field. It's also very fast and bright and works well with my Z50 in low light and flash photos.

If you want a wide lens it is not that wide on the Z6. And using the Nikon NIKKOR Z DX 24mm f/1.7 Lens (Nikon Z) on the Z6 crops 1.5 times and you will loose a lot of resolution.

on a Z7 II in APS-C crop mode, this DX lens' 24mm focal length will increase 1.5X, to effectively 36mm focal length (wide angle view), and you will only be using the center part of your full-frame sensor
if you want a full-frame Z lens with ~36mm focal length, to use the entire full-frame sensor, better lens choices would be the Nikon Z 35mm f/1.8 S (best quality) or Nikon Z 40mm f/2 (lightweight/compact)

The Nikon NIKKOR Z DX 24mm f/1.7 Lens (Nikon Z) is a DX lens designed for use on cameras that use the APS-C 1.5x cropped sensor, while the Nikon Z5 Mirrorless Digital Camera uses the full-frame sensor. That being said, if you go to MENU button ➔ Photo Shooting Menu, then you go to "Choose Image Area" and select [DX (24x16)], you may use the 24mm f/1.7 lens without any vignetting issues. Do note that when using the DX crop mode, your maximum resolution will be reduced from 24.3 megapixels down to 10.3 megapixels.
