Nice Tripod With A Bad Clamping System

I'm Not A Fan Of The Quick Clamping Design On The AD-80 And AD-100 Tripods. In An Effort To Improve Speed, They Have Eliminated The Lower Clamps. I Found That I Could Extend/retract The Lower Section With Firm Hand Pressure, While In The Clamped Position. I Also Found The Single Clamp To Be Frustrating To Use. All Sections Are Released By A Single Clamp, Which Makes It Difficult To Position Each Section Exactly Where I Want It. I Ended Up Returning The Tripod And Going Back To A More Traditional Design.

Almost perfect for the price

I just used this yesterday to film a speech. It was a run n gun Gala event and I had to deploy it quickly. It’s amazing that you can get this thing to its full height in less than 10 seconds. Just 3 locks in total. Amazing. 4 stars because my only gripe is that you cannot remove the head. I was hoping to mount a much better fluid head to these amazing tripod legs. Hard to beat at the $175 price tag I got it for..
