This seemed like a great solution for a color accurate light table for film scanning. And in fact the actual film holder for it is well designed and effective (would recommend!). The issue is simply in the design (or quality control) of the light source itself. It produces an uneven exposure where the center is giving more light then the edges and with 4x5 color film or if you are stitching larger formats of film this create and nightmare of post-production work (the left of a negative will red more red then center, when stitched it becomes patchwork cyan, red, green areas. I've used a much cheaper non-color accurate light table to digitize film negatives and while the color was off, it was much easier to correct because the light was even. The quality of this light table is simply not up to a professional standard. I will note however, for 35mm, the gradation is slight enough in the center it shouldn't be a major issue. I have had success with 35mm, and the color accuracy has been very strong! Also on a side note, I tested different, negatives, lenses and cameras to ensure the issue was in fact with the light table and something else. I wished the company simply tested the luminosity across the light source for constancy before sending it out. Nearly a great product.

Excellent Even Light for Negatives

I found a number of old family negatives from the 1920-1940 time. I needed convert them to positives. I purchased an inexpensive lightbox from my local camera store that did not carry Negative Supply products. The results were disappointing, and I returned it to get this product. The negative image converted wonderfully, and the final image looked great thanks to the help of software editing. I could not have achieved the final image without an excellent lightbox to photograph the negative. PS: I downsized the images easy uploading. I had immediate excellent images to work with and the results were excellent.
