Can the preamps drive a Shure SM7b? Whats the preamp gain?
Asked by: Rashid
Zoom has not specified the amount of gain available from the Zoom R4 MultiTrak 32-Bit Float Recorder with Stereo Bouncing's preamps. This is typical for 32-bit devices, since gain adjustment is neither possible nor necessary. Since it is a 32-bit recorder, it should be capable of making a satisfactory recording with even a low-output dynamic mic such as the Shure SM7b.

Maybe a specialist can clarify on what tracks means vs inputs, what stereo bouncing is and where effects go, on the 4 tracks? TY
Asked by: Spineanu
You can mix up to 4 separate audio tracks within the Zoom R4 MultiTrak 32-Bit Float Recorder with Stereo Bouncing. It has 2 combination inputs, so you can connect an XLR connection mic or line source, or a 1/4'' connection mic or line source into either of the 2 inputs on the bottom of the recorder. Stereo bouncing means that you can create a single stereo track of everything that you are mixing on the recorder. Track effects are 3-band EQ, pan, echo, and reverb, available for each track. Input effects can be applied to each of the physical inputs while recording, like amp simulation for guitars, delay. and distortion.

Asked by: s
With the Zoom R4 MultiTrak 32-Bit Float Recorder with Stereo Bouncing, you can record up to four tracks. You can record to one track using the external inputs or the built-in mic on the recorder and then record up to three additional tracks in the same manner. You can then mix them on the recorder.
