SanDisk Professional 6TB G-DRIVE PROJECT Thunderbolt 3 External Hard Drive

Designed primarily for professional content creators, the 6TB G-DRIVE PROJECT Thunderbolt 3 External Hard Drive from SanDisk Professional allows you backup and save your projects, footage, and other large files. Connect this external drive to your Thunderbolt 3 port for up to 40 Gb/s transfer speeds while using second port for daisy chaining.

Inside the anodized aluminum housing is an enterprise-grade Ultrastar 7200 rpm hard drive with a maximum read speed of 250 MB/s and a maximum write speed of 240 MB/s. The enclosure also includes a PRO-BLADE SSD Mag slot that allows you to add high-speed storage without increasing the device's footprint.

I do not recommend anyone to buy them. After a couple of years, they stop working and you lose all your data. Real garbage for a lot of money.

Right out of the box it was simple as plug it in and go. This drive starts when you computer does with no set up procedure or special software. The outside construction is sturdy, clean and easily stackable with my over drives. Its is super fast when save over files and so far shows no problems. Very pleased with my purchase.

Yes, a second Thunderbolt enabled external HDD/SSD can be daisy-chained to the second Thunderbolt port on the SanDisk Professional 6TB G-DRIVE PROJECT Thunderbolt 3 External Hard Drive.

OK, at one point you're talking about 40Gb/s, and then 250 Mb/s r/w speeds. I don't get how they reconcile?

Thunderbolts 3 and 4 have a 40Gbps pipe. You can daisy chain up to 5 additional devices and all those devices use that 40Gbps pipe. The Pro-blade also gets 1000MB/s, so it uses more of that performance too. Interface vs disk speed is tricky stuff!

Why does the Pro-Blade slot on the G-Drive ...

Why does the Pro-Blade slot on the G-Drive Project transfers only 1000MB/S while the Pro-Blade Station reads/writes at 3000MB/S?

The internal connection to the problade is at usb 3 speeds (its probably a cheaper and creates less heat), where as the Problade dock is a deadicated dock for the blades with a faster thunderbolt interface/pipeline. Its a shame, but 1000Mbs is still quite fast and good enough most of the time.
