Key Features
  • 12mm Lens Covers Full-Frame Sensors
  • 10-Blade Iris, T2.8-22 Aperture
  • 270° Focus Rotation
  • 80mm Front Diameter
Relatively small and lightweight, the DZOFilm VESPID 12mm T2.8 Lens is part of the VESPID series of lenses from DZOFilm and is well suited for independent and high-end full-frame cinematography. The lens has an 80mm front diameter, allowing it to work with virtually any cine-style matte box. The small size makes this lens an attractive option when working with drones and gimbals, as well as when shooting handheld or run-and-gun. Sporting an interchangeable ARRI PL mount, this fully manual lens works with cameras that have a PL or EF mount with the included Canon EF mount. The full-frame coverage of the lens supports sensors that have an image circle up to 46.5mm for use on cameras with sensors up to full-frame without vignetting.

How is it that DZO can make a 12mm full frame ...

How is it that DZO can make a 12mm full frame lens that accepts front lens filters, yet their 16mm can not?
Asked by: David
The DZOFilm VESPID 16mm T2.8 Cine Lens (B&H # DZ16VPL) has a convex glass design that would not allow for threaded filters to mount. Usually, matte boxes are the solution for filters paired with cine lenses, with the exception of some that can support threaded filters. It's also DZOFIlm discretion to produce the type and style of cine lenses within their collection.

Does this lens have a lot of distortion? And would it hit the mirror of a DSLR if the camera is converted to PL Mount?
Asked by: Paul
The DZOFilm VESPID 12mm T2.8 Cine Lens (ARRI PL & Canon EF) does have some noticeable barrel distortion around the edges. I suggest viewing some images shot with the the lens to determine for yourself if the amount of distortion is a deal breaker for you or not. So long as the camera has a PL mount, you shouldn't have any problems using the PL mount of the DZOFilm VESPID 12mm T2.8 Cine Lens (ARRI PL & Canon EF).
