Useful - with some caveats.
Works pretty well once you get past the learning curve. The motors really should have persistent state assignment and small screens.
every day is a new adventure
I bought into this system to replace an earlier lens motor system that was dated. First tests were good. I bought a Tilta Pro Ring for my DJI Ronin RS4 Pro. Then lens motors, followed by hand wheels and a handle. I run multiple cameras in an infomercial studio and have the all with matched bodies and zoom lenses. Coming from LANC controls on studio cameras I wanted to duplicate lens control from tripod handles. And this looked like a viable system. USB power serial connections looks good on paper, in practice you better be ready for a exploration journey not documented anywhere in Tilta's manuals. After a failure yesterday on a remote shoot I spent the morning on that journey. I found that putting power to the zoom motor first, then linking it to the focus motor only ran one the the motors. After swapping motors with another system I determined it wasn't the motor. I reversed the power sequence. Feed from battery to the focus motor then a power jump to the zoom motor. After several hours of testing I have a working dual motor system. Like I said, it works, but be prepared for a journey into power interconections if you are going to run multiple motors on a lens. I have had three motors running, but don't recall exactly what the power path was. I will know that i will need to allot some time to getting that working before the shoot date.
