RODE Micro Boompole Pro Ultra-Lightweight Modular Boompole (7.2')

The Micro Boompole Pro from RODE is an ultra-lightweight modular boompole that extends to 7' and allows location sound engineers to capture audio in confined or difficult spaces. The pole has been optimized for use with the VideoMicro microphone (sold separately) and using a standard 3/8"-16 thread, these sections can also be used to extend the Boompole Pro to reach over 12' in length.

RODE SC8 Dual-Male 1/8" TRS Cable (20')

The SC8 Dual-Male TRS Cable from Rode is a shielded extension cable for use with the VideoMicro and VideoMic GO microphones (sold separately). It features gold-plated contacts for better audio reproduction and measures 20' in length and has a 1/8" TRS mini-jack connector on one end and a right angle 1/8" TRS mini-jack connector on the other.

Use this to record crowd video. Great little shotgun microphone. Pattern is wide enough to capture a 30-40-person seated crowd. The shotgun feature minimizes feedback (when positioned properly) and attendee voice pickup as acceptable (if the attendees speak clearly) without going to the max on gain.

Yes, a longer mic will capture better sound (see physics, law of). But for travel, this one is superb. Very pleased with recording quality on a trip with the Nikon Z. Would buy again.

Will this work for planespotting / aviation videography with my iPhone and block most of the wind noise? (The runway is right in front of me)

The RODE VideoMicro II Ultracompact Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone can be used with an iPhone and it does include a furry windshield to help minimize wind noise. The mic is rated with a maximum sound pressure level of 110 dB for the loudest sounds that it can reproduce clearly, so although the sound of the airplanes may be louder than what the mic can handle, but it may still do a decent job of documenting the planes with the video captured by your iPhone.

The RODE VideoMicro II Ultracompact Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone will work with the Panasonic HC-X1600. The camera has a standard 3.5 mm stereo microphone input that provides "plug-in power" to operate the VideoMicro II, which does not use a battery.

To connect the RODE VideoMicro II Ultracompact Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone to an iPhone 14 or any iPhone with a Lightning port, you would need to use the included RODE SC7 3.5mm Right-Angle TRS to 3.5mm Right-Angle TRRS Coiled Adapter Cable for Smartphone (B&H # ROSC7) together with an adapter such as the Apple Lightning to 3.5mm Headphone Jack Adapter (B&H # APLAADAP).

I can’t get this to pickup audio with zoom h5. Anyway to do so?

The RODE VideoMicro II Ultracompact Camera-Mount Shotgun Microphone can be connected to the 3.5mm TRS mic input on the X/Y mic module that is included with the Zoom H5 Portable Handy Recorder using the 3.5mm TRS to 3.5mm TRS cable that comes with the mic and it will receive plug-in power through this mic input. As another option, the VideoMicro II can be connected to an XLR input on the H5 when using the same 3.5mm TRS to 3.5mm TRS cable together with the RODE VXLR+ 3.5mm TRS Female to XLR Male Adapter with Phantom Power Converter (B&H # ROVXLRP). When connecting the VideoMicro to an XLR input with the VXLR+ adapter, you will need to turn on phantom power (48V) for the corresponding input in order to supply voltage to power the mic. The VXLR+ adapter converts phantom power to the appropriate amount of plug-in power that the mic requires.
