Viltrox DC-550 Overview

The lightweight DC-550 5.5" HD Monitor from Viltrox lets you view your camera's image on a bright, sharp 5.5" display. The DC-550 supports up to 4K30 video input and can send the signal through an HDMI loop-through output. This model features one brightness histogram, one parade waveform, a cooling fan, and 1200 cd/m² brightness, making it suitable for outdoor use.

The DC-550 features a 1920 x 1080 display that supports live view from your camera, and it provides image tools such as peaking, color temperature, tone, pixel-to-pixel zoom, brightness, and contrast. You can monitor the audio via its built-in speaker or 3.5mm headphone port. At the rear of the monitor, a built-in L-series battery plate enables you to power the monitor with the L-series battery, or you can power it with a separately available AC adapter.

For a newbie like myself this is a very affordable way in, I still have lots to learn but shows me desqueeze and like that it's pretty much ready to roll out of the box minus getting the correct HDMI cable for my R3. I was also lucky to already have a battery charger and extra battery from a Rotolight I own. Lots to learn but again for the price not much to complain about.

This monitor is a great on camera option. It came with several accessories that have been very useful as well. Would definitely buy again.

No, the Viltrox DC-550 5.5" HD Monitor will not produce a signal to the monitor when your camera is set in 4k60.

Will this Viltrox monitor record video that includes the settings in my camera view finder like shutterspeed, iso and histogram?

No, the Viltrox DC-550 5.5" HD Monitor is not capable of recording. If you want a monitor that can record, I recommend the Atomos Ninja 5.2" 4K HDMI Recording Monitor (BH #ATNINJA). To record the display overlays you would have to make sure your camera has the ability to output display overlays via HDMI.
